The 'Dream' House
(A Nightmare)

During my A-Level Art, I explored the depths of my nightmares by creating pieces based on vivid dreams I have had. This one in particular was one in which I was a serial killer, however righteously killing sex offenders and molesters.

I can remember every element of the apartment my dream was set in. So, for this project, I mapped it all out and began constructing a doll's house model of it. The style seemed to be very American Psycho and little hints were dotted around the place that gave clues into the life of the person that lived there. For example, the bath is heavily acid stained and the shower curtain, blood stained; the carpet in the living room is a deep red and knives ominously attach to the wall, ready to grab.

For the images of the house, I wanted two different types. First, images that are shot to look like the house is real. By taking shots from inside the box, I could give the illusion that the space is real and life-sized, as if it were up for sale on an estate agency site. The second type I wanted was ones in which you can see the doll's house nature being utilised. These images will have the hand of a person playing with the pieces and not only emphasise scale but give a morbid connotation. It is as if a child is playing with a serial killer's house which seems to act as one strange metaphor.

'Dream' House

In these images I have done the lighting, composition, model making, and photography.
